I switched over to LC from a private eye doc. about 10 years ago (in Princeton, NJ) as the glasses and frames were less expensive. First two times everything was fine. Third time I decided to get my sunglasses which were bifocals, that I had gotten from the private eye doc changed to progressives like my clear glasses using the old frames. When I picked them up I found although the distance was the same as my regular glasses, I found it very hard to read with the sunglasses. The lens was about the same size as my clear glasses so it wasn't because of size. I was then told that the type of lens was different than my clear glasses and that could be why. My clear lens was a more expensive lens. Had I known there would be a problem I would have paid the extra money and why I wasn't told they would be different was beyond me. I, unfortunately accepted that and for the last 4 years struggled to read while wearing them. Finally on 6/10/17 I went and had my exam and ordered new glasses with new frames for my clear glasses and since my sunglasses (frames) are very comfortable, I decided to keep this frame again and just have the lens changed. I asked the girl who was measuring me for the glasses if the lens type for both clear and sunglasses would be the same & explained why I was asking. She assured me they would be the same lens. She then told me they would take 14 days as opposed to a week for the clear glasses. I expected this since that was what happened last time. I was fine with that. A week later (6/18) I stopped in to pick up my clear glasses only to find my sunglasses were ready but the clear ones would take up to 14 days. Opposite of what I was told and what I experienced last time. But OK, fine. So I try on the sunglasses and I have the same problem I did last time being unable to read well, but distance was fine. The person helping me checked to be sure the prescription was right and the since he couldn't figure out what was wrong, he recommended waiting until I get the clear ones to be sure I could read with those ones. He said to leave the sunglasses behind because once he "closed out" the transaction on them my 30 days started and I was better off waiting for the clear ones to compare and have them both start on same day. I got 2 calls on 6/20 that they were ready but I was unable to go back until 6/27. When I tried on my clear glasses they were fine. I am able to see clearly (distance and reading). The sunglasses I was not able to read. This time I was told that it's because I am trying to read indoors with sunglasses. I found this odd but just for the heck of it, I went outside in the sunlight and found no difference. I also noticed that although distance is ok, my peripheral vision is blurred and I am unable to read unless I tilt my head down and look through the center of the lens which is not what progressives are supposed to do. So I went back and told the woman I still had a problem and really don't want to pay for these since they are not acceptable. She then said I could try them out for a few days and then maybe we could switch to a plastic lens and maybe because these are polarized that is causing the problem. I thought this was odd since the first pair I had was polarized and there was no problem with them. Only the ones I got from LC. She then tells me I had to make a decision by 7/10 or the 30 days would be up. So I said I was told the 30 days start when I pick them up not when I ordered them. She said no it was the day of the order. So basically I get 13 days? That is baloney. I am never going back after this is settled. I am not sure what happened to LC but the first 2 times I went they were very good. Suddenly they changed their store into a very high end place with all designer/expensive frames (prices have more than doubled since I started going there) and the people who work there are less knowledgeable even with all the new fancy equipment. None of them seem to give you the same answer on when glasses will be ready, their 30 day policy start date and even the lens materials themselves. Very sad since they are more convenient than the private eye dr I went to and their hours are more accommodating also. I think I'd rather pay more at the private eye dr than have to go through this every time I need glasses. I am not sure now if I should just ask for a refund on the sunglasses or pick out a new frame and see if they can make them right with their frame.

Lenscrafters told me the same thing since I complained about foggy spots on my lenses. They said the anti-reflective coating comes off from cleaning if you don't use a special cloth.

I told them I have worn glasses since I was 12 years old, and this had never happened. Obviously this coating is coming off too easily, and Lenscrafters is blaming the customer. The lenses are defective. There were no scratches on my lenses from cleaning with a dirty cloth.

They did to agree to replace them, no charge. I hope they get enough complaints that they quit selling lenses with the coating.

LENSCRAFTERS - UNPROFESSIONAL SALESPEOPLE

I went to the Princeton location over this weekend because I lost my prescription sunglasses. The salesperson that helped me did not have samples of gradient tinting i could refer to so she gave me a level 3 tint which ended being too dark. I couldn't see out of the glasses with that tinting. They then tried to remove some tint and it still wasn't right. They told me it would take longer to do so I left the area and went home. I had to call to see if they were ready. When I called later that day, they told me that they were ready and the tinting was fine. I drove 18 miles back to the store to find the tint spotty. Upon suggesting that they make me a new pair of lenses and stating my dissatisfaction to the sales associate, someone else got involved in my conversation. This person was a store employee who overheard my conversation. He felt that he should take the situation over so I wouldn't continue to comment about my dissatisfaction. He went as far as mocking me in front of the store employees and customers. I had to ask him to stop mocking me so I could continue elaborating on what I expected. This happened on Friday evening and tomorrow is Monday and I still haven't heard about them being ready for me to pick them up. These people are RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL! I am astonished by the way I was treated at the store. I am a good and loyal customer to boot! I almost wanted to cancel the order completely to prove my point, but I decided to write this complaint instead.

Kind of sounds like a "bad service because you could be a bad customer" situation. Sounds like you just wanted to stand there repetitively complaining loudly and disregard what employees were trying to say to you and how do you expect people to deal with someone like that?

LensCrafters review: Watchung, NJ location; No subject matter experts, Poor Product

I purchased Lenscrafters "highest quality" polycarb lenses 18 months ago. I recently developed discomfort wearing them only to discover the lenses have "clouded" due to light scratches. Went to Lenscrafters to learn what the problem was. These are not my first pair at the age of 53. I was told it was my cleaning technique, and "I can't tell you why your previous pair never developed this problem", "you will have to bring them in", and "everyone gets their glasses from the same place, we are the biggest and the best, you'll have the same issues no matter where you go". I went to the car, brought my previous pair in. "Oh, these are high index lenses, that's why they didn't scratch" in 3 years of use! Buyer beware - my web searches suggest a pattern of dishonesty (fraud in the case of the person who took care of me). Good-Bye Lenscrafters, Watchung, NJ (and all Lenscrafters) you've lost a family account.

LensCrafters review in Livingston, New Jersey: Im so unhappy!!!!

I orderd $1050 Tiff & Co frames on 5/2/12 from a vineland NJ store...they took a month 2 come in(mind you they told me 10 to 14 days)...I had to go back 3 times for adjustments! (they keep falling off my right ear and my eyes need glasses all day) Finally the women agreed 2 order new frames...its now been 6 wks and I'm still waiting!!! I call every wk and they keep telling me they have to keep reordering them!! WTH id tell everyone go 2 pearl I never had a problem there

Lol, ironically pearle is the same company as LensCrafters! I worked for LC for 20 years, it WAS a great company.

I left 6 years ago bc I couldn't take the management destroying the company I grew up in. Now? Yikes!

It's laughable how that company has been ruined. Holly, judging by this list of complaints, you must be a very busy person.

I too went to Lens Crafters---with their great sale 50% off all frames. Then the sales person looks at my insurance and I get 40% off because of my insurance. Knowing the discounts and that I had worked with GE Money Bank in the past--I decide it would be a great time to get a couple extra pair of glasses and sun glasses. So we measure etc etc. Imagine a $1300 sticker shock. and, obtw--Ge Money Bank will only go $500---so I needed to write a $800 and some dollar check for all the great discounts. I am so glad I pay those insurance Premiums---NOT.

Agree with Todd. Lenscrafters is a luxury store lady so for you to go in there and probably pick chanels and the best type of lenses what did you expect?

I have people come in and when I say $700 for a pair of glasses after discounts they don't blink. $500 off on your glasses is actually really good.

You want cheap ***, go to costco. you get what you pay for including the non glare flaking off.

Did you think u could combine all these discounts ?

1st of all if you carried eyemed issursnce - they are all owned by the same company- and it clearly states on your info - its either one or the other .

These are discounts people - and it sounds like your insurance is a discount and certainly not a funded plan ...

So look at it this way - say your bill was 1000 dollars on your 4 pts of glasses - did you honestly think you would get

50% off then an extra 40 % off ?

Ok - so 90% off - u would pay 100 bucks ?

That's kinda crazy thinking ... That is if it was thought thru.

Hey why not add the aaa or AARP into it - and get an extra 30 % off - if u keep adding them up - add in the senior discount too -

In the end - people will owe You your 3 prs of glasses and OWE you $$ to take them off their hands ..

Come on - common sense is not to common anymore ..

I am in NO WAY defending LC's actions, they were terrible in their handling of your glasses and business. However, having been in optics for about 15 years now (3 of which at LC, no love lost there)...I will say that there are some docs who refuse to admitt their mistakes and will blame everything on the lab who makes the glasses and will do a "slight" change to make things easier for the lab (which makes zero sense)or to make the patient happy, when in fact they make a fairly significant change to the RX.

They do it b/c they hate to be wrong and try to save face. This by no means every doctor, but I have had my fair share that did that to my patients. It's always easier to blame someone else.

I have no clue what the issues were in your particular case, either way...I wish you luck next time and hope you get much better service where ever you choose to receive service. Personally, I recommend a small business that has zero corporate structure, they tend to focus on the needs of the patient and their satisfaction more than numbers.

DOCTORS MAY BE STEALING FROM THE COMPANY BY CALLING CUSTOMERS TO ENCOURAGE THEM TO HAVE SURGERY TO CORRECT VISION. THEY GET AT LEAST $500.00 OR MORE FOR THE REFERAL. THIS IS NOT COMPANY PRACTICE.

short but not so sweet..ordered my high persription glasses on 7-19-12, waited the 7-10 business days and got an "oh, so sorry your sripte does not come in the type of lense that was ordered" oh we can upgrade you to a transition lens and discount the price..so they did took a whole twelve dollars off a very pricey bill..then waited another 7-10 business days for that the I got a call from the store stating that the "outside" lab was working on my glasses and the order woudld be pushed through asap..well here it is almost a month..and I still don't have them. The store employee stated again, "the outside lab was having difficulty with your order".

Well let me tell you, I have been blind all my life and never had any problems due to the persription.

I will never shop there again!! :(
